2018 was absolutely amazing. OSA Gourmet won 9 prestigious awards this past year! Not one, not two, but three Scovie Awards! 2 World Hot Sauce Awards, and 4 International Flavor Awards!
In addition, we’re excited to announce that we’ve been certified by Fresh From Florida, and are including their logo on all our products. We had the opportunity to participate in the Fresh From Florida booth at the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit trade show in October which was held in Orlando, Florida. It was a blast to represent First Coast Fresh through the University of Florida and present the unique Florida Datil Pepper to produce marketers from all over the world.
Spotlight On Business Magazine did a brilliant article titled:
I am so honored to tell you that the article was chosen by the readers and editorial board as one of the top stories for 2018, and has just been republished. You can read the article here: https://online.flippingbook.com/view/587539/44/
David Mc Donald, the author, and I spent quite a bit of time on the phone doing the interview. He asked purposeful questions about why I left my administrative nursing job to pursue making and selling datil pepper products. I’m extremely appreciative of how well written and accurate the article turned out, and thrilled that it was chosen as one of the top stories of the year.
I have some lofty goals for 2019. First, I’m going to do everything in my power to publish more blogs. My goal is 2 blogs a week, focusing on healthy, seasonal foods, and loaded with lots of nutritional information. I love including fun facts as well, so that will continue to be part of my posts. Let me know what you would like to see in the way of recipes, food ideas or nutritional information. I want to hear from you.
I have several new dry seasonings in the works. Datil peppers are so versatile. They’re the perfect addition to almost any dish. Datil peppers have a slightly fruity flavor with a latent heat. They’re hot, but not over the top hot. Datils have about the same heat level as habaneros, so they’re spicy, but definitely not on the scale of a ghost pepper or Carolina reaper. I don’t do bland foods. I love to season everything with unique flavor combinations, and I know you’re going to love my new blends. Stay tuned for an announcement about these special new seasonings that will take your dishes in new directions. I’ll even include a few contests, just for fun!
As I ponder the possibilities 2019 will usher in, I’m truly excited. Charles Ray and I’ve made plans to attend the Fiery Food Show in Albuquerque, New Mexico in March, and we’re trying to decide where else to take our unique datil pepper products. The datil pepper is such an unknown commodity, and we’re determined to promote it far and wide. 5 to 10 years ago, ghost peppers and reapers weren’t very well known. They’re household names, now, and I expect datil peppers to take off over the next year. I want everyone to spice up their life by adding datil peppers to their diet.
Adding hot peppers like the datil to your diet may also have amazing health benefits. The capsaicin in datil peppers does more than add flavor to your life. Here are a few of those benefits:
OSA Gourmet is certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the nation’s largest third party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the United States. It was an arduous process, but well worth the effort to become WBENC certified. I’m proud to be part of such an enterprising group of women who are changing the face of business, one woman at a time.
We are certainly off to a great start to 2019. I can’t wait to see what this new year will bring. Happy New Year from the Datil Pepper Lady.
