  •  Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Combine all ingredients EXCEPT CRABMEAT in the bowl of an electric mixer and blend until well combined.
  • Fold in crabmeat by hand with a large spoon or spatula.
  • Place into an ovenproof baking dish and bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 35-40 minutes, or until dip is golden and bubbly.
  • Remove from oven and garnish with crab claws and green onions.
  • Serve hot with raw veggies or crackers for dipping.

Notes

To make ahead, go through step 3, then cover and refrigerate for no more than one day.  Remove from refrigerator, preheat oven and bake according to directions in step 4.
You can serve this dip cold, but I much prefer it hot from the oven, with the sweet, succulent crab bathed in melted cheese and over the top spicy datil pepper goodness.  Needless to say, it didn’t last long enough to worry about any leftovers.  My guess is that you’ll have your guests begging for more.  They don’t have to know how easy it was to make.  Let them think you slaved for hours in the kitchen.
